I am currently a PhD candidate at London South Bank University researching the re-visualisation of somatic dance and movement, started September 2016. The current aim of my studies is: Enhancing digital-dance practice using biometric and qualitative data to visualise somatosensory experience. This Practice as Research or PaR is interdisciplinary and spans across Sports Science, Media Arts and Somatic and Digital Dance Practice. I was awarded a full time scholarship in order to do this and am about to have my RES02 Panel Review. If awarded without any recommendations I may proceed to my RES03 which will pass me from MPhil to full PhD status.
To date I have have researched PaR Methods and Methodologies, phenomenology, somatics, the sensorimotor and somatosensory, ideokinesis, enaction, affect, perception and embodiment. I have also researched artists and scientists who have used dance and technology collaboratively, to re-visualise human movement and have been exploring postural synergies, motor primitives and the use of Motion Capture, EMG's, MMG's and ECG's.
I have also attended a few mini residencies and conferences
